Caring for this patient population is complex and multidisciplinary but incredibly rewarding. The care team, consisting of RNs, LPNs, MAs, and CTAs, will collaborate with 8-10 providers per week to manage a patient load of 80-100 individuals daily, spanning from cancer surveillance to end-of-life care.The Hematology Oncology Clinic an outpatient facility at the Stephenson Cancer Center with 12-15 providers and servicing roughly 60 patients with different blood disorders and cancer diagnoses, also Bone Marrow Biopsy’s procedures and interventions. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.Administers medications safely under direction of physician or other medical personnelObserves, records, and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.Provide care according to an established nursing plan.Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situationEnsures patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwarding charts as appropriateCommunicates systematic report to other care providers.Assisting in the coordination of care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.Documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.Uses quality and evidence based practice to deliver and improve care.Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision.Triage telephone calls for referral to other clinical team membersInfusion/Treatment Depts: demonstrates knowledge and skills in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products.Radiation Oncology Depts: demonstrates knowledge of radiation therapies and procedures, including side effect and symptom management. Demonstrates ability to triage patients and coordinate with provider to ensure care needs are metDemonstrates knowledge and skill in aspects of IV therapy and hydrationManages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment.General ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsEducation: Completion of educational requirements for NCLEX-PN examination. Completes Oncology Specific courses and competencies within 1 year of hireExperience: Oncology or previous health care office experience preferredLicense(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact LPN License (eNLC) required.
