We are committed to helping the population we serve, and our communities, achieve optimum health and enjoy the best quality of life possible.What You'll DoThe Physical Therapy Assistant administers physical therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Physical Therapist to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical function and prevent disabilities, in accordance with principles and practices of the profession. The physical therapy assistant may provide treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings.Independently carries out PT treatment plan of care as established by Physical Therapist.Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act.Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.Demonstrates the ability to treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes.Completes all required documentation following treatment, ensuring documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved.Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services.Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner.Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication.Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy.Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.Communicates with supervising therapists, through written or oral means, the progress of assigned patients and/or unexpected changes in patient status. Modifies the treatment plan, based on anticipated functional outcomes in consultation with the therapists.
