The Training Mentor will provide guidance during the first six months of the DSPs' employment with additional training as needed. This position will work closely with other program staff to coordinate training and mentoring opportunities.SCHEDULEThis is a permanent, full-time position for Tuesday - Saturday from Noon - 9 pm with rotating on-call responsibilities*The DSP Training Mentor is assigned a cellular phone to use for on-the-clock, work-related purposes.*ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSMust be able to provide proof of a GED or high school diploma from an accredited institutionA valid driver's licenseAt least two years of experience as a Direct Support Person or possess comparable experience in the I/DD fieldPrevious supervisory, teaching, or training experience is preferredMust pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background checkMust reside in the Charleston/Mattoon area or within 20 miles of Charleston.Successfully complete and maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certificationMust pass the Short Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults (S-TOFHLA)Successfully complete medication administration training and annual recertifications to maintain medication administration statusJOB DUTIESInitial MentoringProvide an initial orientation to the DHS-DDD mandated DSP training curriculum and schedule OJT assignmentsCollaborate with the Residential team to provide on-the-job training within the group homesDevelop a rapport with the new employees through contacts such as worksite visitsObserve new employee performance and review documentationOn-Going MentoringRespond to DSP requests for additional training and supportAid DSPs in problem-solving ways to meet work expectations to maintain employmentSchedule and/or provide training based upon identified needs from quality assurance processesAssist the Scheduling/Training Coordinator with scheduling DSPs for trainingWork as part of the Residential team to facilitate the immersion of new DSPs into the agency cultureImproving Quality of the Training ExperienceObtain input from DSPs regarding the relevancy of current DSP training and how the training can be modified to better meet their needsProvide training resources that are relevant to the changing needs of individualsProgram Responsibilities and DutiesMay be assigned to fill a shift working as a DSP in the homes as needed or to occasionally assist in scheduling staffCarry the on-call cell phone for the Program in a rotation with other program staff, staying within the Charleston-Mattoon area when on-callWAGES$20.25 per hour with a $0.50 per hour increase after trainingPAY SCHEDULEEvery two weeks with direct deposit available upon requestBENEFITSPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysHealth, Disability, and Life InsuranceDental and Vision Insurance (optional)Flexible Spending Account (optional)Profit-SharingEmployee Assistance Program403 (b) Investment Plan (optional)QUESTIONS?
