The Associate Buyer is responsible for assisting the Buyer with the overall merchandising direction of a category or department(s) with the goal of meeting and exceeding sales and margin targets. Building a business that creates trend-setting buzz by incorporating consumer insights, business analytics, and competitive intelligence is needed for you to deliver in this role. This position will assist the Buyer with purchases and the negotiation of merchandise with vendors; partner with Merchandise Planners to develop financial strategies that maximize business opportunities; and work closely with the Merchandising, Marketing, and Store Optimization teams while focusing on our target demographic to provide a rich customer experience supported by best-in-class product assortments.LI-MN1ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Buyer will assist the Buyer(s) with:Developing an overall product strategy that maximizes sales, gross margin, and turnPartnering with the E-commerce team to deliver strong performance via the Digital channelCollaborating with Marketing to develop rich, product-driven, consumer-centric storytellingWorking with the Financial Planner to ensure all buys achieve optimized metricsPrepping information for all recapping, seasonal planning, and open-to-buy meetingsBuilding bottom-up product assortments based on business results and marketplace trendsAnalyzing reports in tandem with Merchandisers for store-level opportunities and liabilitiesManaging a product feature calendar and all sample flow in support of marketing effortsTracking all inbound product from vendor shipment to in-store deliveryQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred in applicable fieldA minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail and/or e-commerce merchandising is requiredProficiency in software applications: Excel, Word and PowerPointKnowledge of Power BI or similar systems preferredKnowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft or similar assortment tools preferredDemonstrated understanding of our product, customer, marketplace, and fashion trendsAbility to present and communicate clearly with management, peers and business partnersStrong financial acumen and naturally analyticalAbility to be detailed and organized while multi-tasking and prioritizing tight deadlinesCreative and strategic thinker~10% travel expectationsAt Foot Locker, We Value Innovation, Authenticity, And Integrity In All That We Do. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
