CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer

Our client is a privately held American manufacturer, founded in 1967 and based in Hudson, New York, that specializes in producing high-performance plastic hardware and precision components through in-house processes like CNC machining, injection molding, and mold building. Its products-such as plastic fasteners, screws, nuts, washers, and custom parts-serve diverse sectors including aerospace, semiconductor, electronics, chemical processing, and industrial applications.Salary:$28-$38 per hour (negotiable based on experience)Job Summary:Set up, program, and operate CNC lathes to produce precision machined parts while ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to blueprints, work orders, and production standards.Job Responsibilities:Set up and operate CNC machines to produce machined parts.Plan machining processes by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and material stock.Program lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points and offsets.Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs.Set up lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.Load material and verify machine settings by measuring first-run and sample parts.Maintain specifications by monitoring cutting, drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.Troubleshoot machining processes by adjusting offsets and controls and replacing or sharpening worn tools.Follow quality assurance procedures and address preventive maintenance needs, troubleshooting malfunctions and requesting repairs when needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience operating CNC lathes.Technical school or CNC-related training preferred.Experience with Tsugami or similar machines is a plus.Knowledge of G and M Code programming.Strong attention to detail and verbal communication skills.Experience with tooling setup and machining calculations.
