Principal Engineer – Java/AWSLocation: Jersey City, NJJob DescriptionFidelity Investments is seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS cloud technologies to design and develop scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong backend engineering expertise, experience building cloud-native microservices, and a proven track record delivering high-performance distributed systems.Required Skills12+ years of software engineering experience.Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.Extensive experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud and cloud-native application development.Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, database design, and normalization.Experience building and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).Strong experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitHub, UDeploy, Artifactory, Terraform, and Stash.Experience with application monitoring and production support using Datadog and Splunk.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar AI/ML tools to improve software development productivity.Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices.Nice to HaveExperience with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.Experience with Conversational AI platforms or AI-powered applications.Experience developing highly scalable, secure, cloud-native enterprise solutions.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications and REST APIs.Build scalable cloud-native solutions on AWS.Design high-performance backend services and microservices.Optimize database performance and implement efficient SQL/PL/SQL solutions.Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.Monitor production systems and resolve performance issues.Utilize AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity.Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.Follow engineering best practices for code quality, testing, security, and scalability.
