Estimator
Job PurposeTo develop and maintain cost effective new home construction estimates and supporting budgets. Engage in field validation of takeoffs and confirms contactors in alignment with department and budget objectives.Essential FunctionsDuties and ResponsibilitiesPrepares take-offs for materials needed (lumber, trim, roofing, siding, etc…)Work with regional product development team to create process of takeoff creation for new plansSupports preparation of bid packages requiring takeoffs and estimatesConducts field visits to verify material takeoff and documents overages/underage for estimate correction Assists Purchasing Manager with new community set up in Newstar (Purchasing software) Answer material and subcontractor variances and eliminate variance issuesWork with management to establish and improve field validation processes and proceduresReview EPO reports weekly and identify all Estimating, Purchasing, price change, plan error, etc. EPOsProcesses variance purchase orders Enters trade contract data into NewstarOther duties as apparent or assignedQualificationsKnowledge and SkillsProficiency in MS Office software applications, i.e. MS ExcelKnowledge of Newstar purchasing software is a plusDetail oriented and organizedAbility to multi-task and establish prioritiesKnowledge of new home construction process is requiredEducation And Work ExperienceHigh School Diploma required, college degree preferred OR2-4 years of residential homebuilding or estimating experience OREquivalent combination of education and/or work experienceWORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their essential functions of this job.
