Machinist I - 2nd Shift
MachinistThis is the first (entry) level of Machinists; in this role employee is able to alternately set up and operate more than one type of machine tool; such as CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, etc in machining operations. Performs these functions in the completion of jobs that are moderate in complexity. Operates machinery and maintains setups where previous tooling, operation sequence, fixtures and attachments have been established. Follows standardized, pre-determined procedures to perform a variety of primarily manual machining and machine shop-related duties to machine a wide variety of standard and special components of average complexity which are utilized in the manufacturing of pneumatic cylinders.Work Environment: University Park, IL OnsiteSalary Range: $19.00-$24.00/hr with $2 shift differentialWithin this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.Key Responsibilities:Ensures maximum levels of production through proper operation of machinery.Performs machining of parts and products in accordance with drawings, specifications and material requirements.Operates and adjusts semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations.Meets close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill.Able to work from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup information including material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread and profiling and contouring.Follows proper operating procedures and maintains proper records in accordance with plant management system.Follows all safety guidelines including utilization of proper PPE.Keeps work area clean and organized to insure safety and environmental compliance.Produces quality parts while meeting scrap and rework standards; through proper in-process inspection.Maintains quality standards on all parts being produced through proper use of measuring devices and fixtures.Maintains production records to avoid costly errors.Performs Machine set-ups, tool offsets, edits programs with direct supervisionDemonstrates positive relations and teamwork as established in the IMI Way and Leadership Blueprint within the organizationMay aid in the training of Machine OperatorsRecognizes and resolves tooling wear problemsCritical Competencies for Success:High school diploma or equivalentBasic math skillsBlueprint reading skills; technical training preferred1-3 years previous experience as an advanced Machine Operator on Lathes and Mills or 1 year advanced machine operator & formal education in Machining and programming.At IMI, one of our top priorities is to create an inclusive culture of health.
