The role supports a mission-critical Cash Window Application Platform within the mortgage domain, focusing on backend services, database performance, and scalable enterprise integrations.This is a highly technical, backend-focused role requiring strong Java, SQL, CI/CD, and modern AI-assisted development practices.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using Java and Spring BootBuild and optimize advanced SQL queries for high-performance database operationsSupport end-to-end SDLC including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenanceWork on performance tuning and optimization of backend systems and databasesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutionsDevelop and maintain REST APIs and backend microservicesSupport CI/CD pipelines and deployment activities using Jenkins, JIRA, and related toolsParticipate in production support, troubleshooting, and issue resolutionLeverage AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) for development productivityRequired Skills & Qualifications5–7+ years of Java development experience (Java 8+)Strong expertise in SQL, RDBMS (PostgreSQL or MS SQL), and query optimizationHands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, JPA/HibernateStrong understanding of multithreading, collections, and Java core conceptsExperience with REST APIs and microservices architectureKnowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, JIRA, Maven, Gradle)Experience with Docker and containerized applicationsFamiliarity with Kafka (streaming technology)Exposure to AWS EKS or cloud-native environmentsExperience using AI coding tools / agents (Claude Code, Codex, Amazon Kiro, etc.) is mandatoryNice to HaveAngular 9+ / frontend exposure (not end-user facing role)GraphQL APIsPostgreSQL optimization experienceExperience in mortgage, banking, or financial services domainAdditional InformationMust be able to work fully onsite in McLean, VAW2 Only – No C2C / No sponsorship availableCandidates must have strong analytical and communication skillsIdeal candidates are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable in AI-assisted engineering environments
