Lighting Technician – Entertainment Lighting SystemsLocation: New York City Metro Area Compensation: $55,000–$75,000 Employment Type: Full-TimeOur client is seeking a Field Service Technician to support, troubleshoot, and commission professional lighting systems across theaters, studios, venues, and architectural environments. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, and bringing lighting systems to life. If you like variety, fast-moving projects, and working with real-world systems—not just sitting behind a desk—this is the role.ResponsibilitiesBecome an Electronic Theater Controls (ETC) Factory Certified TechTroubleshoot and service lighting control systems, fixtures, and networked systems onsite and remotely Support system startups, commissioning, and project closeout Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction documents Work with project managers, installers, and clients to bring systems online Diagnose issues, perform repairs, and keep systems running reliably Build and configure racks, fixtures, and control components Design and adjust basic user interfaces for control systems Provide training to end users on system operation and maintenance Respond to service calls, including occasional after-hours support Document service work, system status, and project updates QualificationsHands-on experience with theatrical or architectural lighting systems Strong understanding of control protocols (DMX, sACN, RDM, etc.) Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems Experience with lighting fixtures, dimming, and control systems Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to think on your feet Comfortable working onsite, in the field, and at height Solid communication skills with both technical teams and end users Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel BenefitsMedical, dental, and life insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and certification opportunities About Theater OutsourceTheater Outsource.com is the entertainment industry’s dedicated recruiting partner — connecting top-tier talent with the companies that bring stages, venues, and experiences to life.
