Fixed Asset Accountant

DescriptionRobert Half is seeking a Senior Fixed Assets Accountant to join our growing accounting team supporting a large portfolio of residential properties. This role will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of fixed assets across multiple properties, including capitalization, depreciation, asset tracking, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with fixed asset accounting in the property management industry and hands-on experience with Yardi software.Key Responsibilities+ Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including asset capitalization, transfers, disposals, and depreciation+ Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger within Yardi+ Review and determine proper capitalization of property improvements, renovations, and development costs+ Track and record construction-in-progress (CIP) and ensure timely asset capitalization+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset reconciliations+ Assist with year-end audits by providing supporting documentation and analysis related to fixed assets+ Work closely with property management and development teams to ensure accurate asset classification and cost allocation+ Prepare reports and analysis related to asset valuation, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditures+ Ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP accounting standards+ Identify opportunities to improve fixed asset processes and internal controlsRequirementsRequired Qualifications+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance+ 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on fixed assets accounting+ Experience in residential property management, real estate, or construction accounting+ Hands-on experience with Yardi software (required)+ Strong knowledge of GAAP related to fixed assets and capitalization+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsPreferred Qualifications+ Experience managing large property portfolios or multi-entity environments+ Experience with construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting+ CPA or CPA candidate preferredKey Skills+ Fixed asset accounting and asset lifecycle management+ Depreciation and capitalization analysis+ Property improvement and capital expenditure accounting+ Financial reconciliation and reporting+ ERP systems and property management software (Yardi)Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
