Therefore, it is our goal to hire a diverse workforce and cultivate a culture where our employees feel accepted and included, hold a valued place within our organization and are equally able to contribute to their fullest extent, assisting in fulfilling our mission of building a stronger community.Direct Support Professional – Supported Independent Living Program (SILP)Objective / Purpose: Under the direction of the Program Coordinator for the Supported Independent Living Program (SILP), the Direct Support Professional supports, encourages, and teaches adults with developmental disabilities to build independence in all areas of daily life.Major ResponsibilitiesHome SupportTeach daily living skills in consumers' homes and within the community.Assist consumers with: Health care needsFinancesCooking and meal planningShoppingHome care and household tasksPersonal careCommunity educationModel and educate consumers on healthy relationship skills and personal boundaries.Advocate for consumers with medical, dental, legal, and other service providers as needed.Monitor and support self-medication administration with proficiency.Respond appropriately to consumer emergencies and provide emotional support when needed.Community SupportAdvocate for consumers with family, peers, and community members as appropriate.Introduce consumers to community resources and assist them in accessing and using these services.Encourage and support participation in community activities and events.Teach safety skills relevant to both community and home settings.Teach, instruct, and model appropriate social and community behavior and expectations.Participate as an active member of the Supported Independent Living Program, Developmental Services, and UCS teams.Record Keeping / AdministrativeSubmit daily timesheets using accurate service codes in the electronic medical record system.Request and submit required documentation from other service providers and professionals.Complete progress notes, monthly summaries, and all other documentation in a timely manner.Maintain awareness of all consumer goals and supports outlined in the ISA and document progress accordingly.Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and scheduled agency/division meetings as required.Complete all mandatory trainings.DSP QualificationsEducation & ExperienceRequired:High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred:Direct Service experience preferredExperience with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferredSkillsProficiency in using Microsoft Outlook for internal e-mail communicationLicenses/Certifications & OtherValid Driver's LicenseReliable transportation to transport clients on occasionCompensation details: 21.19-21.19 Hourly WagePI90824680e7eb-31181-39980730
