Description SCOPE: Primary focus of the manager on attracting and hiring, predominately company drivers and independent contractors, working with local customers, vendors and assisting with making decision on location for the startup of operations. This requires a person in the chemical space with local knowledge of the customers, carrier's and local knowledge to build out a full team The Terminal Manager is responsible for all aspects of LIQUID CHEMICALS Ashtabula, OH terminal operations. The Terminal Manager must work in conjunction with Safety, Sales, Maintenance and Administration to insure a successful operation. The Terminal Manager must develop and maintain a positive and progressive operations program to insure maximum efficiency and cost control. DAILY: Oversee daily operations in newly developed operation Oversees Ashtabula, OH building of office staff as needed Customer Service and/or the relation to current Sales functions Aid with Backhauls. Acts a driver liaison in dealing with daily issues in areas such as driver discipline, driver write ups, disciplinary actions. Assist as needed in Dispatch. Assist as needed in Sales support. Assist as needed in driver recruiting and coordinates needs with recruiting and safety. Ensure customer on time performance of 98.2% Display core values and positive, professional company culture with staff, drivers, contractors and customers. Review and coordination of utility metrics WEEKLY: Review of weekly issues with LIQUID CHEMICALS team for adjustments in procedures. Review with scheduling coordinator load management and operation efficiency. Review of Settlements (driver and Owner Operator) for payroll processing. Support the SC in decision making/development/training. Attend Management meetings as necessary Responsible for communication to department(s) of requirements, duties, assignments, and follow-ups. Address and resolve all tank wash issues and maintenance needs Maintain MPG (miles per gallon) report. Manage driver and designated personnel safety and MPG bonuses. Maintain and report KPI&s (Key Performance Indicators) to VP Chemicals or appropriate designate MONTHLY: Maintain service performance report by Customer Maintain Fuel & Mileage/Fuel Tax correction report to OTS (Operating Tax Services). Designation of safety steward to conduct monthly meetings, with posting of results and actions. ANNUAL: Perform Employee reviews for direct report staff employees. PERIODIC: TMW Dispatch and File Maintenance administration (what about daily, weekly needs with TMW). People Net management and administration Tracking of vacation requests and coordination of absence for Operations Department personnel. Complete Non-conformance responses based on customer dead lines Total Mail/ People Net System coordinator (includes driver training) and ability to transition to expected new ELD in 2022. Communication with Safety Manager in the event of accidents/incidents and follow-up with the Service Coordinator to complete the necessary paperwork. Communication of known equipment issues with the Fleet Manager. Substitution equipment assignments to drivers in the event of breakdowns or scheduled repairs. This includes the tracking of time spent in the case of rental for an O/O. Adds to consider hiring, training, coaching, advising, auditing, P and L review requirements, etc Requirements DETAILS AND SUMMARY: This is a full-time position requiring the job to be performed in-house during regularly scheduled day time business hours and e-mail and/or phone communication for after hours. Provide for the necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination and control in the administration of daily shipping, receiving, maintenance and all other operational activities at their assigned locations(s). Establish measurable Quality goals for the facility and track their success or failure. Identify operations goals and perform, either directly or indirectly, those activities necessary to achieve stated goals and objectives to support the business and obtain maximum growth and profitability. Ensure the continued growth and success of the business by the aggressive recruitment, training and ongoing management of drivers, tank wash, maintenance, dispatch, clerical and other support personnel. Development and implementation of training programs for all new operations employees as well as the establishment of ongoing training programs for all current staff. Make provisions and establish schedules for the cross training of essential personnel to ensure that redundancy staffing measures are in place in terms of coverage in the event of absence. Ensure that all customer requirements are met and that work is performed in conformance to the standards set by upper management. Access and develop short and long range operational strategy and planning. Maintain all appropriate records and assure their accuracy. Oversee and direct all terminal activities and determine the scheduling of daily workloads and objectives. Ensure that equipment usage and maintenance records are maintained and preventative maintenance schedules. are in order and acted upon. Awareness of existing and new regulations concerning labor, environmental restrictions and hazards, etc from DOT, OSHA, EEOC and other agencies. Project a professional image through the appearance of all company facilities and equipment and in all customer relationships. Adhere to, promote, and encourage compliance with all elements of the company's Responsible Care performance goals. Strictly adhere to and enforce all company policies. Ensuring that all employees are active and that waste and non- productive time is kept to a minimum. Ensure that all driver paperwork is submitted in a timely manner. This includes items such as receipts, delivery documentation, logs, trip reports, maintenance reports, etc. Control expenses of the terminal within budgeted guidelines in order to enhance company profitability. Serve as the terminal's liaison with local vendors and coordinate purchasing of materials and supplies required to carry on the day to day operations of the terminal. Provide dispatch, supervision and management duties for start-up operation.
