GAP Community Child Development Center offers a multi-cultural educational and developmental program for children aged six weeks to five years. As part of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education's (OSSE) Pre-K Enhancement and Expansion Program (PKEEP), GAP is recognized as one of only 30 OSSE PKEEP centers in Washington, DC with this distinguished high-quality designation. GAP fosters a safe and nurturing environment where learning is engaging, exploration is encouraged, and children are inspired to develop new concepts with enthusiasm.Role DescriptionThis is a FULL TIME ON-SITE, role located in Washington, DC for an Infant/Toddler Teacher - Early Education Child Care professional. The role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children, implementing age-appropriate educational activities, and ensuring the child's development and well-being. Day-to-day tasks include teaching and guiding children through play-based learning, maintaining positive communication with families, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and adhering to state-mandated educational standards and guidelines.Infant/Toddler TeacherPosition: Infant/Toddler TeacherSchedule: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through FridayEducation: Minimum A.A./A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education or related fieldLocation: Washington, DCREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum A.A./A.S. degree in early childhood education, or a related field, from an accredited institution.Must be able to consistently report to work Monday through Friday 9a-6pm, reliable transportationMust have the ability to effectively communicate with parents on a consistent basis.Ability to prepare informative and accurate daily reports that keep parents updated on their child’s day & well-being.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.• Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.• Instructs and monitors children in the use of learning materials and equipment.• Uses technology to support and differentiate instruction.• Manages children’s behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.• Encourages and monitors the progress of individual children and uses the information to adjust teaching strategies.• Maintains accurate and complete records of children’s progress and development, including portfolios.• Participates in staff training and parent conferences.• Communicates information regularly to the lead teacher and parents regarding children’s progress and needs.• Supports children’s performance and development through observations and Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs).• Works with children from diverse cultural, economic, ability, and background groups.• Participates in appropriate professional activities.• Performs all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the program.OTHER REQUIREMENTS• Must have reliable transportation.• Clear full background check and health screening.• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.• Pass a yearly health physical and FBI check in accordance with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) requirements; and• Meet professional teacher education requirements of OSSE.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTeachers are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.SALARY AND BENEFITSSalary is commensurate with experience.• Competitive Salary – participates in OSSE Pay Equity Fund• Health Insurance• Paid Holidays and Paid Time-Off• Dedicated Team Members• Free Off-Street Parking• Accessible by Metro BusHOW TO APPLYSubmit your resume to info@gapccc.com OR complete the online application at https://gapccc.com/careers.
