Apply via Dice today!Role: Master Data & Reference Data ArchitectLocation :Chicago, IL(Remote) Duration: ContractJob DescriptionWe are seeking a senior Data Architect with deep experience in Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric and master/reference data modeling. This role is responsible for designing analytics-ready data structures derived from master and reference data platforms most notably Profisee and establishing the data architecture patterns that underpin enterprise-wide reporting and analytics.This is a design- and architecture-led position. The role defines data models, integration patterns and platform architecture, and guides implementation teams in executing against those designs. The successful candidate will build a scalable, governed reporting data foundation that makes master and reference data consistently available, trustworthy and analytically useful across the enterprise.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and maintain reusable analytical data models that translate master and reference data from the Profisee MDM platform into structures optimized for Power BI consumption, ensuring semantic clarity and report-layer performance.Model complex reference data hierarchies, taxonomy structures and multi-level dependencies, establishing patterns that support both operational and analytical use cases.Architect end-to-end data solutions spanning ingestion, transformation, storage and serving layers within the Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory ecosystem.Define data modeling standards across conceptual, logical and physical layers including entity-relationship diagrams that reflect both source system realities and downstream analytical requirements.Develop and document integration patterns for sourcing, transforming and delivering master and reference data across domains, with clear lineage from origin to consumption.Partner with DBAs, solution architects, BI/data warehouse engineers and report developers to align architecture and design decisions with the requirements of source and consuming systems.Establish and uphold governance frameworks, taxonomy standards and data quality controls that ensure master and reference data remains authoritative, consistent and fit for use across the enterprise.Evaluate and recommend architectural improvements as the platform evolves, balancing scalability, maintainability and cost efficiency within the Azure/Fabric ecosystem.Required QualificationsMore than 10 years of experience in data architecture and data modeling, with a demonstrable record of delivery on large-scale, enterprise data platforms.Deep, hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory.Strong proficiency in dimensional modeling and master/reference data modeling, including the ability to translate complex domain hierarchies into clean analytical structures.Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale, distributed data environments.Proven experience designing analytics-ready data models for BI and reporting, with Power BI preferred.Experience With MDM Platforms, With Profisee Strongly Preferred.Familiarity with data governance principles, data quality frameworks and metadata/lineage management practices.
