Overnight Supervisor for DUI Program
Supervision of participants, maintain a safe environment, enforcement of rules/guidelines, be available to participants in case of an emergency and /or to take care of their needs as they arise. Please be courteous to participants, but not overly friendly. You cannot give legal advice or counseling. Refer the participant to speak with the Facilitator in the morning. Conduct yourself in a professional manner as you are a representative of the Nationwide ARM Program.
Note: All participants have received some alcohol and driving related charges and are court ordered to attend. There are typically 10-25 participants.
Hours: 9:45pm to 8:00am Friday &/or Saturday of scheduled weekend. On occasion you may have to stay later due to inclement weather, traffic etc. Overnight staff needs to stay until relieved by a Facilitator.
Job Duties:
Arrive by 9:45 pm.
Get shift report from Facilitator and keys. Facilitator should introduce you to the participants & remind them that rules apply at night also.
Lights out at 11:00pm
After lights out, please sit in the meeting room till participants are asleep. If participants can’t sleep or want to talk quietly they can sit in the meeting room.
Do not enter a bedroom unless you hear unusual activity in the room.
In the morning give a verbal shift report and the keys to the Facilitator.
Remind participants to get their last cigarette in before lights out at 11:00pm.
At your discretion participants wanting to smoke after 11:00pm: One participant at a time outside, another can go out when one comes in. Each lodge has a specific smoking area, please be sure you & the participants are using only that area. There is no smoking allowed in the building.
Saturday & Sunday morning:
Help kitchen staff get breakfast items set out for participants – make coffee, set out coffee cups, eating utensils, etc.
Participants are to be awakened at 7:00am, stand by the sleeping area door and turn on lights and let them know the time and keep reminding them again every 15 minutes, because breakfast is at 8:00am. If a participant refuses to get up let the Facilitator know and they will handle the situation.
Please be familiar with Guidelines for the Weekend. All rules/guidelines apply at all times. Overnight staff can and should dismiss participants for obvious violations of rules. If a participant cannot or will not leave during the night, then the next morning the Facilitator is to dismiss the person. Overnight staff needs to write a detailed incident report of why the participant is being dismissed and email.
