Process Engineer – Injection MoldingLocation: North CarolinaPosition OverviewWe are looking for a hands-on Process Engineer with strong expertise in injection molding to support and improve manufacturing operations. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and sustaining robust molding processes while driving quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will play a key role in new product launches, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate, and optimize injection molding processes to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and achieve consistent, high-quality production.Lead process development activities for new product introductions, including DFM reviews, PFMEA participation, and PPAP support.Troubleshoot molding defects, equipment issues, and process variations using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action methodologies.Collaborate with tooling, maintenance, and production teams on mold design improvements, preventive maintenance schedules, and tooling performance evaluations.Monitor and maintain process capability through SPC, process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), and continuous process monitoring.Support scientific molding practices and provide technical guidance to technicians, operators, and cross-functional teams.Work closely with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, and process stability.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.3–7 years of experience in an injection molding manufacturing environment; automotive or medical device industry experience preferred.Strong understanding of mold tooling design, polymer behavior, and injection molding process development.Knowledge of Scientific Molding principles; RJG certification is a plus.Experience with Moldflow or similar simulation software and familiarity with CAD tools.Hands-on experience with process validation, SPC, and troubleshooting complex molding issues.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and internal cross-functional teams.
