Database Administrator – Microsoft SQL Server Migration Location: Onsite in Richmond, Virginia Work Arrangement: Fully onsite; local candidates strongly preferred Employment Type: Contract Compensation: $124,800–$141,440 annualized equivalent, based on an hourly contract rate of $60–$68 Compensation may be flexible for an exceptionally strong candidate who closely matches all required qualifications. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to support database migrations, production database administration, and daily operational support. The selected candidate will assist with migrating existing databases from an end-of-life hosted platform to a new hosted environment and perform validation following migration. This is a fully onsite position. Candidates must be able to report to the work location as required. Key Responsibilities * Plan and execute Microsoft SQL Server database migrations between hosted platforms * Perform pre-migration assessments, migration preparation, and post-migration validation * Administer production Microsoft SQL Server environments * Provide daily break/fix incident response and production troubleshooting * Perform database backups, restores, recovery, and integrity validation * Monitor database availability, performance, capacity, and reliability * Troubleshoot database architecture, configuration, connectivity, and performance issues * Run database updates and support scheduled maintenance activities * Validate systems and applications following database migrations * Document migration procedures, configurations, testing results, incidents, and resolutions * Support SQL Server versions ranging from 2008 through 2019 * Provide limited support for Oracle databases when needed Required Qualifications * Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases * Demonstrated experience migrating production databases between platforms or hosting environments * Strong experience with database backup, restore, and disaster-recovery procedures * Experience performing post-migration database and system validation * Experience troubleshooting production database incidents and resolving break/fix issues * Knowledge of SQL Server architecture, configuration, security, performance, and high availability * Ability to work independently in a production environment * Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills * Ability to work fully onsite Preferred Qualifications * Experience migrating databases from end-of-life infrastructure to modern hosted platforms * Experience supporting SQL Server versions 2008 through 2019 * Experience with database performance tuning and capacity planning * Working knowledge of Oracle database administration * Experience supporting government or other highly regulated environments Applicants should clearly identify the following in their résumé: * Microsoft SQL Server versions supported * Database-migration projects completed * Source and destination platforms used during migrations * Backup, restore, and recovery experience * Post-migration testing and validation responsibilities * Current location and ability to work fully onsite * Work authorization and expected hourly rate Pay: $145,600.00 - $162,240.00 per year Work Location: In person
