Full Stack Java Developer

Turning Point Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Full Stack Java Developer / Software Engineer with AWS Cloud Services experience. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices applications in an AWS cloud environment while providing daily guidance and support to engineering staff. You will manage technical operations including builds, software installations, upgrades, patching, security, scalability, troubleshooting, and system responsiveness. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in problem resolution, leveraging your extensive AWS knowledge to address complex technical issues.Location: Rockville, MD OfficeWork Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days remote)Key Impacts IncludeResponsibilities:Design, develop, and deploy Java-based software and web applicationsDevelop front-end web applications, ensuring Section 508 complianceEnsure that user interactions on web pages are intuitive and engagingDevelop and maintain IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using TerraformEnsure the code is regularly pushed to the version control systemParticipate in Agile ceremonies and actively contribute to Agile practices, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectivesControl, plan, and direct all aspects of the change management processProvide daily support and direction to staff regarding change status requirements, deadlines, and issue resolutionPerform all aspects of technical operations such as building software installations, upgrading, patching, and ensuring security system responsiveness, while managing scaling, troubleshooting, reliability, and monitoringResponsible for effectively tracking, logging, categorizing, and maintaining changes made against the accepted baseline(s) standardsResolve complex problems using deep technical knowledge and experienceProvide support to tier 2 application issues as neededParticipate in and review project plans and schedulesReport, track, and open issues and action items in JiraProvide status and statistical reporting for weekly updates and monthly deep-dive meetingsWhat We're Looing ForU.S. Residency Requirements:Must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) yearsMust be able to go through the US Federal Public Trust Security ClearanceRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldMinimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in Java-based microservices and web applicationsProficiency in Spring Boot microservices architecture, Spring Frameworks, and Spring SecurityProficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptProficiency with GitHub, Git functionality, and Gitflow workflowsFamiliarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and/or ReactExperience with automation and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, or similar platformsStrong working knowledge of AWS Cloud environments, including the AWS Console, EC2, Fargate, ECS, RDS, OpenSearch, S3 (including storage tiers), security groups, and firewall configurationsSolid understanding of networking protocols and security standards, including SSH, SSL, and RSHExperience with log analysis and monitoring tools, such as SplunkHands-on experience with Terraform and DockerWorking knowledge of Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum and SAFeExperience with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)Hands-on experience with software-defined compute, storage, and networkProven ability to automate software builds, repetitive tasks, and log analysisPreferred QualificationsAWS Certification (Associate or Professional level, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer)Java Certifications (such as Oracle Certified Professional or Enterprise Architect).
