Built on trust and strong relationships with clients and partners, AMPAM fosters a culture focused on quality, safety, and reliability at every stage of construction and service delivery.Position SummaryThe Vice President of Safety is responsible for leading AMPAM’s enterprise-wide safety strategy and execution across all business units, regions, and trades. This role will drive a culture where safety is embedded in every aspect of operations—from pre-construction planning through project execution—ensuring the highest standards of safety performance across the organization.Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Safety serves as a key member of the leadership team, partnering closely with Operations, HR, Finance, and Field Leadership to promote accountability, reduce risk, and continuously improve safety outcomes.This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a strong balance of strategic thinking, field engagement, and operational execution. This is a full-time role based on-site in Carson, CA.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and implement AMPAM’s enterprise safety strategy aligned with company goals and growth initiativesEstablish clear safety standards, expectations, and accountability across all regions and tradesDrive continuous improvement in safety performance and culture across the organizationField Engagement & CultureMaintain a strong and consistent presence in the field to reinforce safety expectations and build credibilityPartner with Field Leadership (Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers) to ensure safety ownership at all levelsPromote a culture of proactive hazard identification, open communication, and accountabilityLead initiatives that recognize and reinforce safe behaviorsOperational IntegrationCollaborate with Operations to integrate safety into all phases of project delivery, including:Pre-construction planningJob setup and executionProject reviews and closeoutEnsure safety considerations are embedded early in project planning to minimize riskIncident Management & Risk ReductionOversee all incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysisEnsure timely and effective response to incidents across all regionsIdentify trends and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrencePartner with Claims & Legal Operations to support incident-related claims and litigationCompliance & SystemsEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations (including OSHA)Develop and maintain scalable safety systems, processes, and reporting toolsStandardize safety practices across all regions to support organizational alignmentContinuously evaluate and improve safety programs and proceduresLeadership & Team DevelopmentBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing safety organization across all regionsEstablish clear roles, expectations, and accountability within the safety teamMentor and develop future safety leadersEnsure consistency and alignment across regional safety teamsExecutive Reporting & AccountabilityProvide regular reporting to the CEO and executive leadership on:Safety performance metricsIncident trendsKey risks and mitigation strategiesEstablish and track KPIs to measure safety performance and improvementHold operational leaders accountable for safety outcomes within their areasQualifications15+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in construction or a related industryProven experience leading safety across multiple regions and large-scale operationsStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practicesDemonstrated success in improving safety performance and building safety cultureExperience partnering closely with field operations and project teamsExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience within mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), or specialty contractingExperience in a high-growth or multi-entity organizationBachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST preferredKey CompetenciesStrong ownership and accountability mindsetCredibility and presence in both field and executive environmentsAbility to influence and drive alignment across all levels of the organizationStrategic thinking with strong execution capabilityData-driven decision-makingClear and practical communication styleSuccess MetricsReduction in Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR)Increased field engagement and participation in safety programsImproved incident response time and investigation qualityReduction in repeat incidents through effective root cause mitigationConsistent safety performance across all regions
