Position OverviewWe are seeking a Installer who is highly skilled in-home automation, structured cabling, and systems engineering. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with experience in Control4, networking, and field installations, who can lead project teams, troubleshoot complex systems, and manage day-to-day field and IT support operations.This is a hybrid position combining leadership, technical execution, and client engagement across smart home automation and IT infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Project OversightLead installation crews on residential and commercial job sitesAssign daily tasks and ensure work aligns with project timelines and quality standardsCoordinate with clients, contractors, and team members on-siteReview floor plans, wiring diagrams, and system schematics for implementationOversee inventory, material use, and equipment readinessSystem Installation & IntegrationInstall and configure Control4 systems, distribute audio/video, lighting control, security, access control, and surveillance systemsHandle all aspects of structured cabling including data drops, terminations, and testingBuild and wire network and AV equipment racksMount and connect TVs, speakers, cameras, and other smart devicesEnsure cable runs are neat, labeled, and professionally terminatedNetwork & System EngineeringConfigure and maintain networks (Ubiquiti, Eero, Cisco, Ruckus) for optimal performanceMonitor system performance and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and serversImplement security measures including backups, firewall configurations, and endpoint protectionSupport local and cloud infrastructure, including remote access setupsControl4 Programming & TroubleshootingPerform basic to intermediate Control4 programming in Composer ProTroubleshoot and resolve issues with AV, networking, and automation systemsUse diagnostic tools to identify and resolve connectivity or configuration issuesProvide post-install support, updates, and system optimizationsClient Support & DocumentationTrain clients on system functionality and user interfacesMaintain service records, programming notes, and job site documentationOffer ongoing support and technical assistance when issues ariseDocument installation procedures and create customer-facing guides when neededRequired Qualifications3–5+ years of experience in AV, IT, home automation, or structured cablingProven job site leadership and project management experienceControl4 Tech 1 certification (Tech 2 preferred)Strong hands-on experience with Ubiquiti, Cisco, or similar networking platformsProficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and schematicsStrong knowledge of smart technologies, low-voltage wiring, and rack buildingValid driver’s license with clean driving recordAbility to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical work in varied conditionsExcellent communication, documentation, and time management skillsSelf-starter with a positive attitude and commitment to ongoing learningMust provide own basic hand toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Lutron, Savant, or similar smart lighting and automation platformsFamiliarity with surveillance, access control, and security alarm systemsNetwork+, Control4 Tech 2, or equivalent certificationsExperience with WordPress or digital marketing tools is a plus
