Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Louisville Metropolitan Area for a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). The CSO will lead the scientific vision and strategy for advancing the society's mission. Responsibilities include overseeing research initiatives, forming partnerships with academic and industry stakeholders, developing grant opportunities, and representing KPS at scientific conferences and events. The CSO will also mentor junior researchers, contribute to academic publications, and guide the dissemination of research findings to the broader scientific and public communities. Qualifications Strong leadership and strategic planning skills to drive research initiatives and organizational goals.Expertise in physiological sciences, scientific research, and academic writing.Collaboration and relationship-building skills to develop partnerships with academic, industry, and community stakeholders.Excellent communication, public speaking, and advocacy skills to articulate scientific findings and organizational priorities.Experience in grant writing and securing funding for research projects is preferred.Strong mentorship and team-building abilities to support and guide researchers and staff.Doctoral degree (PhD or similar) in physiology, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline, with significant professional experience in a leadership or senior research role.Familiarity with the latest trends and advancements in physiological research is an asset.
