Java application developer with Oracle PL/SQL

Job Title: Java / PL/SQL DeveloperLocation: Tysons Corner, VA (Remote / Hybrid)Employment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Java / PL/SQL Developer to design, develop, enhance, test, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise applications and database solutions supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with both Java application development and Oracle PL/SQL, with the ability to work across application and database layers. The role will support application sustainment, enhancements, integrations, modernization, performance optimization, and production support.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise Java applications.Develop application components using modern Java development practices.Develop and maintain Oracle PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, triggers, views, and complex SQL queries.Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and application integrations.Support applications using enterprise architectures and application servers such as WildFly, JBoss, or OpenLiberty.Design efficient database queries and data-access mechanisms.Analyze and optimize application and database performance.Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and production issues.Support data migration, transformation, validation, and data-quality activities.Analyze existing code and database objects to identify technical debt and modernization opportunities.Develop automated unit, integration, and database tests.Participate in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code scanning, and deployment activities.Support application modernization and migration initiatives.Collaborate with AWS Cloud Engineers, DevOps engineers, database specialists, QA engineers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and other technical team members.Participate in Agile ceremonies and iterative product development.Support application monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and operational stability.Ensure application and database solutions comply with applicable security, privacy, and DOJ technology requirements.Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge-management artifacts.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.4+ years of professional Java development experience.Strong experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.Experience developing stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, views, and complex queries.Experience with REST APIs and enterprise application integrations.Experience with relational database design and data modeling.Experience with Java enterprise application servers such as WildFly, JBoss, or OpenLiberty.Experience with Git and software development lifecycle practices.Experience working in Agile development environments.Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Oracle 19c and AWS RDS.Experience with Amazon Corretto/OpenJDK.Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government applications.Experience with AWS cloud environments.Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated security scanning, and deployment automation.Experience with application modernization and technical-debt reduction.Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native development.Oracle, Java, or AWS certifications.ClearanceU.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the applicable federal Public Trust suitability determination.
