Job Description GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHEROUR MISSIONThrough academic rigor, character development, and a structured learning environment, Soleil Academy Charter School ensures that every transitional kindergarten through 5th grade scholar has the foundation necessary for college success and a future bright with opportunity.THE POSITIONTeachers play a central role in driving scholar achievement and shaping a joyful, rigorous, and effective academic program at Soleil Academy.THE RESPONSIBILITIESThe Teacher's essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide Quality Instruction to all ScholarsDevelop and sustain a positive, achievement-oriented classroom culture rooted in high expectations, belonging, and scholar motivation. Incorporate internalization for unit and lesson deliverables for all adapted curriculum to ensure instructional clarity and scholar success.Use assessment data to analyze scholar performance and plan, refine, and adjust small-group instruction and targeted interventions to meet the needs of diverse learners.Adhere to and implement the school-assigned curriculum, maintaining instructional consistency and program integrity.Implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/expression, ensuring all students have equitable access to learning.Deliver socio-emotional learning curriculum as scheduledIdentify students who are academically at risk and implement effective intervention strategies, leveraging RTI (Response to Intervention) when necessary.Provide supervision for arrival and dismissal as assigned in order to maintain student safetyBe open to feedback and continuous improvement through coaching, professional development, and reflective practice.Participate in monthly observations conducted by school leaders and coaches to enhance instructional effectiveness.Welcome and incorporate feedback from school leaders, peer coaches, and content support managers to continuously improve instructional practices.Contribute to the School CommunityBuild strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, families, and scholars through daily interactions and school-based initiatives.Actively engage in School and externally provided professional development.Prepare for and attend up to five (5) evening scholar, parent or other school events that do not exceed more than three (3) hours per event, including Report Card Nights, Open House, Scholar Exhibitions, etc.Serve actively on at least one (1) School- established action committee during the school year.Attend all faculty and professional development meetings.Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with parents.Uphold Soleil Educational Philosophy and Standards of ExcellenceSupport Soleil's aspiration to prepare all scholars to have the foundation necessary for college success.Follow School grading policiesMaintain accurate, current records for attendance, coursework, and submit timely completed report cards and school-wide assessment records.Provide a coherent plan for classroom discipline aligned to the school-wide behavior management policy and keep documentation of all interventions taken to manage scholar behavior.Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Soleil Employee Handbook.Ensure timely and high-quality submission of school requirements such as intellectual preparation, unit plans, and re-teaching plans.Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset while striving to exemplify Soleil's commitment to the school community.Other duties as assigned by school administratorsEssential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Ability to stand and actively circulate throughout the classroom for extended periods of timeAbility to supervise students indoors and outdoors, including during arrival, dismissal, recess, and school eventsAbility to occasionally lift and move instructional materials and classroom supplies weighing up to 25 poundsAbility to use instructional technology, including computers, interactive displays, and student data systemsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with scholars, families, and staff in person, via phone, and in writingAbility to maintain emotional control and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic school environmentTHE QUALIFICATIONSLicensure Requirements:Licensure & Legal RequirementsValid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (Intern, Preliminary, or Clear)English Learner Authorization (CLAD or equivalent)DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearanceTuberculosis (TB) clearanceBachelor's degree from an accredited institutionProfessional CompetenciesDemonstrated ability to analyze assessment data and use findings to inform instructional planning and targeted interventionStrong commitment to Soleil Academy's mission, vision, and structured academic modelWillingness to take ownership of scholar outcomes and academic growthOpenness to frequent feedback, coaching, and continuous professional developmentStrong classroom management and culture-building skills aligned to high expectationsExcellent verbal, written, and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and school leadershipHighly PreferredBilingual (Spanish)Minimum of one year of experience teaching in an urban school setting with demonstrated evidence of scholar growth and achievementCompensation and BenefitsCompensation: Soleil provides competitive salaries, which are reviewed every three years. Annual salary range: $63,000–$100,202, based on relevant prior experience and placement on the Board-approved salary schedule.
