Login NowFoster Care Specialist I / IIJob Code: 2026:OTZ-064 Location: Kotzebue, Alaska Program: Facilities Services FT/PT Status: Full Time Job Responsibilities:Maniilaq Association01/26Title: Foster Care Specialist I/II Range: 13/14Program: Family Services Status: Non-ExemptHousing Priority: None Covered: YesBCU: YesPOSITION SUMMARYThe Foster Care Specialist I, II is to provide child protective services case management based on the Family Centered Services model in the Northwest Arctic Borough and Pt Hope in cooperation with the Alaska Office of Children's Services (OCS) and in accordance with the Indian Child Welfare Act. Working directly with the State of Alaska Foster Care and Licensing Specialist & following Foster Home Licensing Standards.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConducts ongoing casework recruitment campaign for new foster homes using all medial and methods available.Processes applications, attachments, and recommends new foster homes for licensing.Orients new foster parents on procedures of maintaining a foster care license.Provides ongoing consultation, assistance, and training to foster parents in understanding their responsibilities.Completes relative home assessments.Reports serious violations of licensing regulations by foster parents to the Office of Children's Services.Travels to villages in the region to complete licensing procedures including Home Safety Standard checks, fingerprints, home visits, etc.Attends case reviews staff meetings, and other meetings pertaining to foster care.Completes a variety of paperwork associated with licensing while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.May assist with moving children to new placements and escorting children to treatment.Maintains a commitment to professional development and growth. Job Qualifications: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with the Northwest Arctic Borough Region, its culture, people, and ability to speak Inupiaq desirable. Criminal history that shows no felonies or abuse of children of any kind. Must possess a current Alaska driver's license and have a good enough driving history to be insured to drive Maniilaq vehicles.Foster Care I :One year experience in a human services or related field.Foster Care II :Two years work experience as Foster Care Specialist I, or three years experience in human service field.Other Job Information (if applicable):DISCLAIMER
