Data Quality EngineerLocation: Richmond, VA (on-site 4 days/week)Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (preferred)Target Start Date: September 1Compensation Range: $42-48/hr (Final Compensation will be dependant on skillset and experience)Job SummaryOur client is seeking a Data Quality Engineer to support its newly established Data Governance function. This is a hands-on data engineering role focused on identifying and remediating data quality issues across their data ecosystem, with an emphasis on Snowflake. The role reports directly to the data leader and will work closely with the data engineering team supporting their ongoing migration off legacy on-premises systems.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, investigate, and remediate data quality issues across source systems and the Snowflake environment.Build data-quality checks and validation components into existing and new data pipelines, in partnership with the data engineering team.Support the organization's Snowflake migration by validating data integrity as data moves off on-premises systems, primarily Oracle.Develop data profiling, cleansing, and validation logic using SQL.Help establish data quality standards, rules, and documentation as the Data Governance function is built out.Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics/reporting and AI/ML teams as data quality needs intersect with their work.Required QualificationsStrong proficiency in SQL.Hands-on experience with Snowflake.Demonstrated experience in data quality engineering, data remediation, or data cleansing within a data warehouse or analytics environment.Experience working within data pipelines alongside data engineering teams.Must reside in or near the Richmond, VA area.Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of Python.Experience supporting large-scale cloud data migrations (e.g., Oracle-to-Snowflake).Experience in a public-sector or state government data environment.Experience helping build or mature data governance frameworks and standards.
