This role is ideal for an engineer with 4+ years of experience who is ready to expand technical depth, take ownership of design tasks, and contribute meaningfully to project success.The Traffic Engineer will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver thoughtful, high-quality traffic design solutions that improve safety and mobility for communities.What are the core responsibilities for the role?Analysis, design, and plan sheet preparation of signing, striping, and MOT/traffic control for interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, and intersectionsPrepare clear and accurate studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish with minimal oversightFunction as a technical specialist on small to mid-scale projectsCoordinate and lead traffic discussions with the project team, clients, and stakeholdersCoordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of transportation projectsAssist in managing assignments, workloads, and training/mentoring of traffic group staffAssist in coordination with other managers and leads to share resourcesQualifications, Skills, and Competencies: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or universityProfessional Engineering (PE) licensure4 - 8 years experience in traffic engineering design with a focus on signing and MOTKnowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineeringHands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim preferredExperience in roadway design is preferredExperience with DOT’s plan preparation procedures and standardsExperience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteriaExcellent written and oral communication skillsOutstanding interpersonal and customer service skillsSelf-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to interact and work cooperatively with client and multi-disciplinary team membersA desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goalsWhy would a candidate want this job?
