Termite Inspector/Technician (Vermin Control)
Summary Of Job DutiesThe Termite Inspector / Technician is responsible for inspecting structures for termites and other wood-destroying organisms, determining the scope of necessary treatment, and performing or assisting in the execution of termite control services. This role combines inspection, regulatory-compliant pesticide application, and customer communication to protect structures from wood-destroying pest damage. Work must be performed in accordance with Pennsylvania pesticide regulations and company standards.Essential Job Functions/Core DutiesConduct detailed inspections of residential and commercial structures for termites and other wood-destroying pests.Identify signs of infestation such as mud tubes, frass, swarm evidence, damaged wood, and conducive conditions.Inspect crawlspaces, basements, foundations, slabs, attics, and exterior perimeters.Evaluate construction features that impact treatment approach (slab vs. basement, expansion joints, wells, drainage, etc.).Prepare accurate diagrams, measurements, and inspection documentation.Perform termite control applications in accordance with pesticide label directions and PA regulations, including:Trenching and roddingDrilling and injection through slabs or masonryApplication of liquid termiticidesInstallation and servicing of baiting systemsEnsure proper mixing, handling, and application of products following safety and environmental standards.Maintain treatment records as required by law and company policy.Perform all work under Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture pesticide regulations.Maintain required technician registration and category credentials.Follow all label requirements, safety procedures, and documentation standards.Ensure service records meet inspection and audit requirements.Explain inspection findings, treatment scope, and expectations clearly to customers.Answer questions regarding termite activity, treatment methods, and prevention.Provide professional recommendations without making structural or engineering claims outside scope.Supportive/Secondary FunctionsConduct follow-up or warranty inspections as scheduled.Maintain application equipment, tools, and service vehicle.Coordinate with office staff for scheduling, reporting, and compliance documentation.Assist with renewals, monitoring visits, and seasonal service demands.Required Knowledge/Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of termite biology, behavior, and conducive conditions.Understanding of structural treatment methods and application techniques.Familiarity with pesticide label interpretation and safe handling practices.Working knowledge of construction features affecting termite control (footings, slabs, crawlspaces, drainage).Strong inspection and observational skills with attention to detail.Ability to perform precise drilling, trenching, and chemical applications.Clear communication skills for explaining technical findings to customers.Ability to document inspections and treatments accurately.Ability to work independently in field environments.Qualification StandardsEducation Licenses:High School Degree or GED Equivalent Clean driving record and valid driver's license. NY Commercial Pesticide Applicator license required.ExperienceProven experience in Pest Control PreferredEnvironment30% Inside, Residential/Commercial Properties, 70% outside environment where temperatures during the year can range. Driving or walking for long periods of time. SafetyThe ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50lbs unassisted. Ability to climb stairs frequently while carrying equipment and supplies. Comfortable and able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl through enclosed spaces for long periods of time. (I.E- Attics, crawl spaces, basements)Safely use a ladder within the manufacturer's weight capacity.
