Mechanical Designer / CAD/CAM Technician

Location: Malvern, PAContact: brendang@wallacecranes.comWe are seeking a skilled mechanical designer / CAD/CAM technician to support our engineering and manufacturing operations. This role combines advanced design work, CNC programming, quality control, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality production and continuous process improvement.ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering: Create and interpret detailed 2D, 3D, 4D, and 5D CAD drawings/models; develop production-ready nesting layoutsTooling & Fabrication Support: Design jigs, fixtures, and molds; collaborate with machinistsCNC Programming & Manufacturing: Prepare files for CNC, plasma, and laser cuttingQuality Control: Inspect incoming materials and review certifications; interpret blueprints; pursue CWI certification if not yet acquiredNon-Conformance Management: Identify and isolate defective materials to prevent production issuesEngineering & Project Leadership: Coordinate projects with internal teams and external partnersPaint Line Oversight: Conduct chemical analysis and ensure proper coating and curingQualificationsExperience in mechanical design and CAD/CAM environmentsStrong understanding of CNC programming and manufacturing processesProficiency in G-code, BLM, Bystronic, or similar systemsAbility to read technical drawings and material certificationsKnowledge of fabrication, machining, and quality controlStrong communication, detail-oriented mindset, and problem-solving skillsCWI certification (or willingness to obtain one) preferredWhy Wallace Cranes?Opportunities to work on advanced manufacturing projectsCollaborative, hands-on engineering & manufacturing environmentRoom for growthCompetitive compensation & benefitsWallace Cranes has been proudly producing high-quality products using domestically sourced materials for over 70 years, with more gantry cranes still in use than any other manufacturer
