The ideal candidate must have 5-10 years of solid waste experience and must have a Professional Engineering License (PE) in Virginia; North Carolina preferred.The position is based out of one of our Virginia or North Carolina locations.The position provides opportunities for engineering design including detail preparation, land grading, stormwater calculations, report writing, permit application preparation and construction quality control. Projects include, but not limited to, the design and permitting of landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, recycling facilities, and composting operations.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resources engineering projects, with a particular focus on landfill design, landfill gas systems, landfill leachate systems, construction planning and oversite, landfill closure, landfill operations, landfill post closure care, transfer station design, MRF design, and recycling centers.QualificationsQualifications and Experience:Professional Engineer License required; Virginia required within six months, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida are a plus and may be required in the future5-10 years of landfill design experience requiredProficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, preferredExcellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills requiredExcellent technical/computer skills requiredAbility to work in a team environment and on multiple projects at the same timeMentor and train junior staffValid driver's license requiredIn addition to Solid Waste design, the successful applicant may also have experience in site planning, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage design, grading plans.Experience In All Of These Areas Is Not Needed To Apply, However We Are Seeking Individuals With Experience In As Many Of These Areas As PossibleLandfill designLandfill permittingStormwater designWetland permittingLeachate system design, management, and treatmentLandfill gas collection and control system design including active gas systems.Management, blower/flair station, plant operations system troubleshooting and well field tuning, title V emissions reportingFacility siting, design, and construction management for: landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, materials recovery facilities, composting facilitiesLandfill capacity analysisFacility / landfill financial assuranceOdor assessment and mitigation, tracer gas studies, ambient air monitoringSolid waste facility operationsConstruction management and quality assuranceDesign of landfill based renewable energy systems including solar and wind energy, landfill gas to energy-to-energy systemsOther waste to energy technologies including anaerobic digestion and biogasBenefitsTRC offers a competitive benefit package consisting of:Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match.Paid time off contingent upon full time or part time status and level of seniority (ranging from 15 to 25 days per year).All full-time employees enjoy a minimum of 8 Paid Holidays per year.TRC ensures that all employees, including those that work part-time, receive paid sick, family, and disability leave in accordance with the laws of their state of residence.These benefits are applicable to US employees depending on their employment status (full time, part time, or temporary).
