Job Title: Quality Assurance Laboratory TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role operates on a 2-2-3 schedule from 6 PM to 6:30 AM, requiring adaptability as the schedule changes weekly. Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on the floor, with the remaining 25% dedicated to testing tasks. Your day will start by checking emails and reviewing a list of tasks to complete.Responsibilities+ Swab machinery to check for contamination and conduct antibiotic testing.+ Run samples and perform line checks.+ Conduct microbiological evaluations of all raw, pasteurized, and final products.+ Operate equipment such as spectrometers, FTIR analyzers, moisture analyzers, and pH meters.+ Perform daily quality audits and checks on the plant floor, documenting findings.+ Recognize and report any unusual results or product defects to the Quality Assurance Lead and Manager.+ Conduct necessary re-checks for analytical and microbiological tests.+ Perform various tests including Total Solids/Moisture Analysis, Powder test for scorched particles and moisture, Whey Protein Nitrogen test, and Bacteria tests.+ Properly identify outgoing samples for third-party testing.+ Lift 50 lb bags of raw materials and boxes 5-10 times per shift and navigate stairs and the plant floor.Requirements+ Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences ie (Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field).+ Testing experience (college experience is acceptable).+ Laboratory experience (college experience is acceptable).-or-+ No degree+ Food manufacturing experience with at least 5 out of the last 10 years in a QA environment.Preferred Skills & Qualifications+ 6+ months of experience as a Quality Assurance Technician in a food manufacturing facility.+ Degree in Life Sciences is preferred.Work EnvironmentYou will work in a state-of-the-art USDA-regulated laboratory and manufacturing floor. Expect to spend 25% of your time in the lab and 75% on the floor, collecting samples and communicating with all levels of staff. The facility is extremely clean, with mandatory handwashing and shoe changes required in certain areas. Locker rooms and showers are available on site. The dress code is casual, but closed-toe shoes are mandatory. You will be part of a close-knit team, working with 4-5 other individuals.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coopersville, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.25 - $26.25/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
