Server Systems Engineer (Contract)Location: Dublin, CA (Hybrid) - Onsite Tuesday-ThursdayDuration: 3-month contract (potential extension or conversion)Rate: $61-$71/hrOverviewOur client is seeking a hands-on Server Systems Engineer to support enterprise server infrastructure, virtualization, and data center operations. This role will play a key part in the organization's migration from VMware vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V and will be involved in a wide range of day-to-day infrastructure engineering and administration activities.The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft Hyper-V experience, familiarity with Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), SCVMM, and HPE server environments, and be comfortable working in both project-based and operational support capacities.ResponsibilitiesSupport Windows Server 2025 architecture, engineering, and implementation activitiesDesign, deploy, administer, and optimize Microsoft Hyper-V environmentsSupport VMware vSphere to Hyper-V migration initiativesDeploy and manage virtual machines using Hyper-V and SCVMMAssist with Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) deployments and administrationImplement and support Windows clustering and high-availability solutionsDevelop and maintain server standards based on application and workload requirementsDeploy and support HPE ProLiant rack and blade server infrastructureAdminister and troubleshoot HPE iLO and HPE OneView environmentsProvide day-to-day infrastructure and data center supportPerform infrastructure assessments, documentation, knowledge transfer, and best-practice recommendationsGather technical and business requirements from stakeholdersProvide daily status updates, including accomplishments, next steps, and blockersRequired Qualifications5+ years of server infrastructure, systems administration, or systems engineering experienceStrong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Hyper-V environmentsExperience deploying and managing VMs through Hyper-V and SCVMMExperience with Windows Server 2022 and/or Windows Server 2025 environmentsExperience with HPE server hardware, including ProLiant systemsExperience with HPE OneView and iLO administrationExperience supporting enterprise data center environmentsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently while taking direction from client stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications7+ years of enterprise server infrastructure engineering experienceVMware vSphere administration experienceExperience supporting or participating in VMware-to-Hyper-V migration projectsExperience with Windows clustering and high-availability solutionsUnderstanding of Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) and how it is implemented and usedBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, term life insurance, short-term disability insurance, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
