Construction LaborerThe Construction Laborer works on active heavy civil job sites doing the hands-on work needed to keep earthmoving operations moving safely and on schedule. This role supports excavation, grading, site preparation, pipe installation, material handling, and general cleanup, while working alongside crews and equipment operators in changing field conditions. This position helps keep the job site safe, productive, and ready for daily work. It is an hourly field role. The Construction Laborer is expected to stop work and report unsafe conditions in the immediate work area.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollow the site safety plan and all jobsite safety rules.Help with excavation, hand digging, and soil work when needed.Check labels before handling, moving, or opening containers and materials.Help set up and run pumps and assist with demolition work as assigned.Do general labor work such as building fences, clearing the site, placing fabric, covering stockpiles.Review SDS information for chemicals used or brought onto the site.Work safely on rough ground and in changing weather and site conditions.Help install shoring systems for trench and excavation work.Wear the required PPE and use it correctly at all times.Take direction from supervisors and crew leaders and carry out work safely and efficiently.Perform other jobsite duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAble to communicate clearly with supervisors, crew members, and equipment operators in person, by phone, by radio, and in writing.Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to work as part of a crew.Valid driver's license required when driving company vehicles, and ability to meet company insurance requirements.Able to read and understand safety plans, SDS, warning tags, traffic signs, training materials, and basic work instructions.Able to safely handle the physical demands of the job.Able to complete and keep current all required training and certifications, including HAZWOPER when needed.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience on construction, earthwork, or heavy civil job sites is preferred.Work EnvironmentWork is done mostly outdoors on active construction sites and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, noise, uneven ground, and moving equipment. Some projects may involve hazardous materials, which requires proper PPE and follow all site safety procedures.
