Job Title - Database Administrator (Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB)Location : RemoteSummaryThe Database Administrator performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance and availability in compliance with business requirements. This position partners with other Information Technology team members to accomplish planning, implementation and maintenance of database related infrastructure for legacy and new business application systems. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security and availability of the Oracle database. Other key job duties include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance and monitoring of data.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCreates, monitors, and maintains company databases by responding to a variety of internal and external database customer requests and assignments from management. Provides database back-up, archiving, monitoring, data analysis and troubleshoots data issues.Main responsibilities include working with Oracle software installations; user and schema creation, maintenance, and auditing; data mapping, loading, and quality control; backup and recovery; space and runtime performance tuning; monitoring and maintenance of data replication processes; and development of supporting scripts and procedures. Assists with related task planning, training and technical direction of other DBA’s or IT software engineers and developers.Provides technical expertise for the organization’s use of relational database and related technologies. Research and recommends current and trending database technologies that offer the organization ways to improve its level of service to customers and maintains its leading edge over competitorsProvides peer reviews for work produced by other DBA’s and/or software engineers.Develops, documents, automates, and assesses DBA processes while looking for ways to improve current processes and streamline efforts. Trains others on the IT DBA Team and within the Information Technology department on databases related to repeatable processes.Provides on-call support after hours and on weekends (on a rotational basis) per the department’s on-call agreement to meet SLA’s and metrics.Education And/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) along with 8-12+ years’ related experience.Computer SkillsMultiple programming languages and systems including those currently used in industry.Oracle programming and databases, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL as well as a solid understanding of latest technologies and programming languagesThorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, and multiprocessing applicationsMedImpact’s legacy systems knowledge (preferred)Hardware architecture, disk arrays, drives and hardware capacity requirements.Oracle relational database architecture, design and maintenanceScripting tools including: AWK, KornShell (ksh), and PERL among othersUnix, Linux and AIX operating systemsDesign, development, design patterns, and complete application development lifecycleDatabase interfacing and relational database management systems (RDBMS such as Oracle or similar)High Availability and disaster recovery technologies including Always on or similarPlusOracle certificationOther Skills & AbilitiesAbility to work independently under general direction and as a cohesive team member with excellent interpersonal skills. Good verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
