Senior Backend Developer - Take Ownership of Our Investment & Brokerage Services

Senior Developer Position You'll inherit ownership of our established Python/Django backend infrastructure, with a focus on our core brokerage and investment services. We're seeking a senior developer to take the reins of our financial systems and guide the next phase of growth, with plans to expand the team to support you as we scale.You'll actually build brokerage systems that handle millions in fractional stock transactions daily, real-time transaction processing that turns card swipes into stock rewards, investment APIs that manage portfolio allocations across thousands of accounts, compliance-ready systems that satisfy FINRA, SEC, and banking regulations, scalable microservices that integrate seamlessly with multiple financial institutions, and settlement and clearing operations that ensure accurate stock ownership.The role involves taking ownership of brokerage services and investment processing systems, architecting and implementing scalable solutions for real-time stock reward processing, building and maintaining REST APIs that power our investment platform, ensuring compliance with financial regulations in all system designs, driving technical decisions for scaling our brokerage infrastructure, helping hire and mentor the expanding backend team, collaborating with frontend developers and financial operations teams, and owning the reliability and performance of mission-critical financial systems.Required skills include strong proficiency in Python and Django (5-6+ years), deep experience with Django Rest Framework, experience with PostgreSQL and complex database design, a proven track record building scalable microservices architectures, experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing, strong understanding of API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT), and expertise in writing secure, compliant financial software.Bonus points include deep understanding of financial systems, trading, or brokerage operations, direct experience with FIX protocol for trading systems, experience with market data provider APIs (IEX, Polygon, etc.), knowledge of financial regulations (FINRA, SEC compliance), experience building reconciliation systems for financial accuracy, understanding of ACID compliance and transaction management, expertise in encryption (at rest and in transit), experience with brokerage APIs (Apex, DriveWealth, etc.), understanding of settlement cycles and corporate actions, experience with AWS services and infrastructure, previous fintech or banking technology experience, and basic knowledge of React/TypeScript.Our tech stack includes React/TypeScript, Python/Django, PostgreSQL, and AWS.What we offer includes meaningful equity in a Series A-ready fintech company, flexible PTO, remote work with direct impact on product direction, owning the backend systems that power millions in investments, working with an experienced team that's solved hard fintech problems, and growth potential and opportunity to build your own team.To apply, we appreciate candidates using AI to craft thoughtful applications - we use it too where it fits!
