Forward Deployed Engineer
Forward Deployed Engineer - Palantir Foundry, Ontology, AIPLocation: RemoteContract: 6 months initialRate: $90 - $100 per hourWe are seeking a Palantir FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) to help our manufacturing client design, deploy, and operationalize data and decision systems across the supply chain. This role bridges business process, data engineering, and applied software development, with hands-on expertise across Palantir Foundry, Ontology, AIP, and Workshop. You will work with manufacturing and logistics stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable data products, operational workflows, and AI-assisted decisioning—while partnering closely with client teams for adoption and long-term maintainability.ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver Foundry-based solutions for manufacturing supply chain use cases (e.g., planning, scheduling, procurement, inventory optimization, logistics coordination, exception management, quality and traceability).Implement and extend Palantir Ontology models to unify data across systems such as ERP/MRP, WMS, TMS, MES, PLM, quality systems, supplier/customer systems, and spreadsheets or legacy sources.Develop AIP-enabled capabilities (e.g., anomaly detection, classification, forecasting support, document understanding, workflow automation) tailored to manufacturing operations.Build and operationalize workflows in Foundry Workshop including operational dashboards, tasking/annotation flows, review and approval workflows, and human-in-the-loop processes.Author and maintain production-grade datasets, transformations, and data pipelines with attention to lineage, governance, and data quality.Create and maintain integration points between Foundry/AIP and client systems using Palantir-recommended patterns, APIs, and deployment best practices.Develop custom code where needed (e.g., connectors, transformation logic, orchestration utilities, data validation tooling, performance tuning).Lead solution workshops with stakeholders, documenting requirements, acceptance criteria, and rollout plans.Drive iterative delivery: prototype quickly, validate with users, harden for production, and support change management.Support testing, monitoring, and operational readiness, including user training, runbooks, and troubleshooting.Collaborate with engineering and data teams to ensure the system is sustainable, secure, and scalable.Required QualificationsStrong FDE experience delivering client outcomes in complex, regulated or mission-critical environments.Hands-on Palantir Foundry expertise, including:Foundry deployment and configurationOntology modeling and operational semantic layersAIP use cases and implementation patternsWorkshop workflows, tasking, and operational UXCross-functional supply chain / manufacturing background, including experience with:Planning & scheduling conceptsProcurement / fulfillment workflowsInventory and materials visibilityLogistics execution conceptsRoot cause / exception management approachesStrong development foundation (e.g., solid software engineering practices, debugging, code review, version control, CI/CD fundamentals).Experience building data products with high data quality expectations (schema governance, lineage, validation, and monitoring).Ability to translate between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
