Maintenance Technician

Please visit www.dhs.gov/real-id to view a list of compliant documents.The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the MASR supervisor (Mech, Rigg, CMEC, Millwright shop).All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.Responsibilities:Ensuring your personal safety, the safety of coworkers and customers is an obligation and primary duty. Supports the Maintenance Services Group repairing machinery and mechanical equipment.Troubleshooting, examination of machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose anomaliesDismantling machines, as required to diagnose and repair, or adjust, will involve the use of hand toolsPreparing written specifications for major repairs, repair parts, or for production of required itemsAcquisition of replacement parts from OEM, or OEM approved entity, or manufacturer in machine shop to which specifications have been providedReassembling machines and adjusting as required to ensure proper operationMechanical requirements at LaRC largely involve reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and compressors Qualifications:U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Six years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade program. Must be able to effectively communicate well with others. CMOE Maintenance employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided resource to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries: as such, it is the most important resource you are required to use.Essential Functions:Work Environment:Mechanical Shop environment and equipment rooms - potential exposure to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Many areas where work is required may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation and environment (90%).
