Some preparations require permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. Others require the use of power tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drills, and sanders.Essential FunctionsUtilizing measuring tools to mark and prepare the materialUsing saws, drills, and other power tools to create the necessary finished productRemove any rough edges created during the modification processUse electrical currents to create heat and bond metalsJoin beams in the construction of metal frame piecesWeld materials such as steel and titaniumUse a rod and heat to join metalsOperate welding machine that feeds wire to bond materialsUse molten metal to join two pieces of metalPlan work by interpreting shop ordersSelect and set up welding equipmentEnsure welds meat standards and specificationsPackage finished product for transportInterpret scope of work from documents detailing tasks to be completedWear appropriate safety equipment at all timesAssist Shop Manager as requiredOther relative duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experienceCurrent and valid US driver's license preferredAt least 1 year prior experience in a fast paced production/manufacturing environment preferredMust pass pre-employment background check or drug test.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of warehouse manufacturingMust be able to work as a team and at times independentlyMust be able to follow directionsWork in a fast-paced environment, completing multiple duties with accuracy, shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlinesExercise sound judgment, work independently and prioritize with minimal supervisionMust have basic hand and power tools including: hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and cordless drillsKnowledge of proper safety practices when handling products, tools and power equipmentAbility to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and effectively read and use a tape measureMust be able to work overtime as neededMust have reliable transportation to and from workDetail-orientedAbility to report to work on timePhysical DemandsThis position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.Work EnvironmentThis role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware.
