The 559th Software Engineering Squadron (559 SWES/MXDPA) is seeking a visionary Team Leader to guide a team of technical professionals in developing the software that dominates the modern threat environment. In this high-impact role, you will be the driving force behind mission-critical systems, combining senior-level program management with hands-on technical authority. From updating the Global Emitter Library to supporting the 850th Spectrum Warfare Group, your leadership will directly ensure our warfighters maintain absolute superiority against an ever-evolving spectrum of global threats. What You'll Accomplish: - Lead & Elevate a Technical Team: Serve as the official Team Leader, coaching, mentoring, and directing a team of professional engineers and scientists—from developmental trainees to seasoned journeymen—ensuring project excellence across the board. - Drive Strategic Innovation: Act as the lead program manager and Senior Subject Matter Expert, researching and implementing the innovative policies and processes that will shape the future of the 559 SWES/MXDPA mission. - Dominate the Threat Environment: Partner directly with the 850th Spectrum Warfare Group at Eglin AFB. You will update the Global Emitter Library and design complex new flight scenarios to test against simulated and real-world threats, keeping the warfighter steps ahead of our adversaries. - Deliver Mission-Critical Software: Direct the design, development, and maintenance of vital weapon system and ground support software spanning avionics, electronic warfare, simulation, and software assurance. - Provide Frontline Engineering Solutions: Deliver crucial on-site engineering assistance to elite units at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida , and Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, rapidly identifying and correcting software deficiencies to keep our most advanced aircraft fully operational. - Ensure Cyber Resiliency & Secure Operations: Oversee rigorous security procedures for personnel program access and drive Information Technology (IT) support to guarantee the secure, cyber-resilient delivery of Operational Flight Programs (OFPs). Ability to lead, plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 2. Knowledge of electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services. 3. Knowledge of software and hardware test requirements, specifications, and how they are converted into automated test and operational flight programs, along with a knowledge of test system instrumentation and their appropriate design application to engineering testing requirements, and how they integrate with avionics software and hardware systems and of the OFP development environment to effectively accomplish assigned functions and fulfill the mission. 5. Skill at software/hardware integration and troubleshooting and at applying professional judgment in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches and in devising solutions or conclusions to highly complex problems, both programmatic and technical. 6. Ability to plan, conduct, and record engineering investigations and inspections; to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions; to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to develop written guidelines, procedures, and policies; and to maintain good working relations. 7. Ability to plan and monitor large and complex engineering or scientific projects; to search out and development new or greatly modified methods and approaches so as to assure applicable objectives, standards, and requirements are met; and to adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects in order to provide for specialized requirements of some projects.
