Financial Controller

ControllerFull-Time | On-Site | Finance & Accounting The Controller oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance for a growing multi-location retail organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial information while building scalable processes that support continued expansion. Key ResponsibilitiesLead period end closes; prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP Manage all accounting operations: general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and revenue recognition Establish and maintain internal controls; coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations Support CFO in annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow monitoring; analyze budget-vs-actual variances Partner with Operations to monitor store-level profitability, labor costs, COGS/margin trends, and expense management Lead ERP/financial system improvements; standardize and automate accounting processes across locations Support financial integration of new and acquired locations Lead, develop, and set performance expectations for the accounting team Success MetricsPerformance will be assessed on: timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting, close process efficiency, audit outcomes, budget variance management, strength of internal controls, and accounting team development. QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred 8-12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or senior accounting leadership Strong GAAP knowledge; experience with multi-location retail, automotive, or service environments preferred Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights High integrity, strong analytical and organizational skills
