Edison Smart is actively looking to hire an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our client's Washington, DC team. This is a key role leading electrical engineering projects from concept through construction.The Lead Electrical Design Engineer will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of power, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and building electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role combines hands-on engineering, project leadership, client engagement, and team mentoring responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and coordination of electrical building systems for a variety of project typeManage electrical engineering project deliverables from schematic design through construction administratioPerform engineering calculations, load analysis, equipment selection, and technical evaluationsDevelop and review engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and construction documentProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineersCoordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure integration of electrical systems within overall building designSupport client meetings, project planning, and technical presentations as requiredQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / similiarProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredPrevious experience working for an AEC or MEP Consultancy preferredStrong experience designing electrical systems for commercial and institutional buildingsProficiency or working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design softwareThorough knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards, and applicable electrical codesExperience with power distribution, lighting design, emergency power systems, and low-voltage systemsExcellent communication and project coordination skills
