This is an opportunity to lead the AI architecture behind a cutting-edge product used to transform how designers work.If you're passionate about building production-grade AI systems—not just experimenting with models—this could be a great fit.CompensationBase Salary: $275,000–$350,000Meaningful equity packageLocation📍 San Francisco, CA (Onsite, 5 days/week)What You'll DoDesign, build, and optimize AI agents for production use.Fine-tune and deploy language models for real-world applications.Build and maintain low-latency, high-accuracy AI infrastructure.Own AI systems end-to-end, from architecture through deployment.Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to deliver AI-powered product features.Evaluate model performance and continuously improve quality, latency, and reliability.Must-Have Qualifications5+ years of experience in backend engineering or applied AI engineering.Hands-on experience building AI agents.Experience building Small Language Models (SLMs).Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.Experience designing and managing infrastructure for low-latency, high-performance AI systems.Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.Ability to own technical execution from architecture through production.Nice-to-Have QualificationsExperience owning AI architecture and technical direction for a product.Experience with model fine-tuning techniques such as LoRA, distillation, or similar approaches.Startup or high-growth company experience.Experience deploying and scaling production LLM applications.Ideal CandidateBuilder with a strong product mindset.Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.Excited to solve complex AI infrastructure and performance challenges.Enjoys taking ownership and delivering end-to-end solutions.
