Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Answers alarms and investigate disturbances. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintains security of premises. Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property. Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary. Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and prevents passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas. Performs duties while maintaining good service excellence and service recovery skills at all times. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education: High School Diploma. Some College or Higher Education preferred. Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in security, psychiatric or acute care hospital experience a plus. Licensure/Certification: PERC card preferred, CPI a plus Knowledge: Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to interact effectively and politely with hospital staff, visitors, doctors, etc. Supervision Received: Director of Security Working Conditions: Work hazards associated with potential misconduct in surrounding areas of the Hospital. Exposure to agitated employees or guests who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. General hospital environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally, telephonically and in writing. Physical agility to make Hospital perimeter rounds.
