Our work requires precision, timing, and strong operational coordination.We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Logistics & Freight Manager responsible for coordinating ocean freight imports and domestic LTL and FTL shipments. This role ensures smooth logistical execution from port arrival to final delivery while maintaining cost control, documentation accuracy, and clear communication.This is an on-site role based in Gardena, CA.OverviewThe Freight Manager will oversee ocean import shipments, coordinate inland transportation, manage carrier relationships, prepare required documentation, and ensure shipments move on schedule. This position plays a critical role in maintaining project timelines and customer satisfaction.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOcean Freight & Import CoordinationCoordinate ocean freight shipments for importWork directly with customs brokers to ensure timely clearanceReview and prepare documentation for U.S. Customs complianceVerify commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of ladingMonitor cargo arrival and coordinate inland transportation from portDomestic Freight Management (LTL & FTL)Schedule and manage LTL and FTL shipmentsObtain competitive freight quotes and manage bookingsCoordinate warehouse pickups and final delivery schedulingTrack shipments daily and proactively resolve delaysCarrier & Vendor CommunicationMaintain professional communication with carriers, brokers, and agentsNegotiate rates when applicableManage freight claims and damage resolutionInventory & Shipment OversightOversee inventory coordination related to inbound shipmentsEnsure accurate staging and dispatch from warehouseAlign shipping schedules with project deadlinesReporting & Cost ControlMonitor freight spend and cost accuracyReview freight invoices for discrepanciesProvide updates to management regarding shipment status and issuesRequired CompetenciesStrong knowledge of ocean freight import proceduresExperience coordinating LTL and FTL domestic freightUnderstanding of customs documentation and complianceHigh attention to detail and documentation accuracyStrong follow-through and accountabilityAbility to work independently and manage multiple shipments simultaneouslyProfessional communication skillsQualifications3–5 years experience in ocean freight, logistics, or related industryHands-on experience with LTL and FTL coordination requiredExperience working with customs brokers preferredProficiency in Excel and freight tracking systemsBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not requiredExperience in a manufacturing or project-based environment preferredWho We AreALCO Designs is committed to a respectful and purposeful work environment.
