Finance Leader OpportunityOur client, a respected tribal government organisation located in Oklahoma, is seeking an experienced finance leader to take ownership of a broad financial and administrative portfolio.In this Controller role, the successful candidate will act as a key financial steward within a complex, multi-funded environment, overseeing more than 105 active grants, leading an established finance team, supporting annual audit requirements, and driving functions across budgeting, payroll, compliance, and internal controls.This is a high-impact leadership opportunity offering a competitive package, broad operational scope, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully within a mission-led organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesGrant & Fund ManagementPrepare and submit the indirect cost rate proposal.Ensure all grant-related expenditure, reporting and documentation align with programme guidelines and relevant regulations.Oversee the administration and compliance of a portfolio of over 100 active grants across multiple government and programme funding sources.Financial Reporting, Compliance & BudgetingManage the annual single audit process from preparation through to completion.Compile and submit required financial reports to government agencies.Lead the annual budgeting process; monitor actual performance against budgets and recommend modifications where necessary.Establish and maintain a computerised financial accounting system encompassing expenses, revenues, assets and liabilities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Provide management with analysis and guidance on financial and legal trends that may impact the organisation.Submit monthly financial statements across all programmes to leadership and programme directors.Payroll, Controls & Asset ProtectionEnsure appropriate insurance coverage is in place at all times.Oversee payroll preparation, allocations, and all associated reporting including W-2s, W-3s, 1099s, 1096s, Federal 941s and state unemployment tax reports.Establish and maintain adequate internal controls, auditing procedures and asset inventory to protect organisational assets.Allocate employee insurance, workers' compensation, unemployment tax and other benefit-related costs.Team LeadershipPeriodically review and recommend revisions to the Accounting Procedures Manual.Consult with senior leadership on any financial, legal or operational matters affecting the organisation.Manage and develop a finance team of five direct reports.
