Amteck Technologies specializes in the design, installation, testing, certification and support of structured cabling systems. This also includes systems installation and certification of fire alarms, paging/sound, CCTV and CATV. Primary RoleThe Technicians 2’s fundamental role is to work as part of a team to install, maintain, and repair cabling and devices for low voltage systems. They work under the direction of others to perform field work on and are required to install a quality product in compliance with contractual documents and all applicable codes and standards. Technician 2’s can perform their job duties independently and provide some training to others. Their work is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion by the person they report to.ResponsibilitiesInstall maintain and repair devices and cabling of low voltage systems in commercial and industrial buildingsWork independently to install pathwaysUnderstand and adheres to BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for low voltage installationsUnderstand and use wire mapsTerminate data jacks and mod plugsUnderstand specifications of IDF and data closet enclosuresCorrectly and safely feed cable, wire and/or wires during installationUse and maintain test equipment, including operating remote end of testing equipmentPrints labels in adherence with job specsKeeps detailed records of device and cabling locationsCan properly identify riser versus plenum environmentsCan properly install firestoppingWork on a team while providing direction and coaching to those around them on projects, primarily Tech 1’sAssist with inventory and maintenance of materials of assigned job siteConsistently demonstrate proper use hand and power tools in a safe and cautious mannerDemonstrate ability to read blueprints, schematics, drawing details, wire maps and other drawingsWork with and around other construction trades in a professional, productive and safe mannerMake skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects such as small electronic partsPerform skilled work while overcoming common environmental challenges such as working in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditionsWork with others in a cooperative manner; understand and follow directionThink and act quickly in emergency situations and perform under pressureComplete tasks accurately and productively, always seeking guidance for any unclear aspects of the task and immediately seeking a new task when the current task is finishedWork to learn job-related material through peers, supervisors, and company trainingAccountable for tools and materials used on the jobsite and responsible for securing and returning them to the designated areaObtain required Amteck safety certifications, communicate with team members regarding any safety deficiencies, and work safely without presenting a direct threat to self and othersRequirements1-2 years of verified experience with low voltage systems and cablingUnderstands the importance of accuracy and demonstrates accuracy in all tasks to reduce wasteDemonstrates ability to meet or exceed task quantity goals assigned with little to no reworkKnowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for Low Voltage installationsMust be able to read a measuring tapeProviding personal hand tools needed to perform routine work within 30 days of employment, as per Amteck’s tool listDemonstrates a basic understanding of customer relationships and the concept of customer satisfaction, with an aptitude for growing that skillAble to travel to meet customer objectives when neededPossesses Amteck’s Core Values and demonstrates The Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision making, including maintaining a strong attendance and arriving on time every day ready to begin work at starting timeIn 1977 Amteck was founded in Central Kentucky with the belief that growth only comes by listening and responding to both clients and employees.
