Respite Companion EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks aRespite Companionto work part time for its In-home respiteprogram. TheRespite Companionposition is a non-exemptposition paying $16 per hour forup to 6 hours per week.Position is available immediately and has flexible days/hours. The office is located in Hempstead, NY and the role reports to the program's Coordinator. . Primary Purpose of Job: To provide "time off" for the caregiver of a home-bound elderly person. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Participate in orientation and in-service workshops. Provide supervision and companionship on an individual basis to elderly persons. Assist care recipient with everyday routines such as eating, walking and light exercise. Submit records and time sheets on a timely basis. Report any problems which affect service to the Sr. Director or Program Coordinator. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate appropriately with elderly individuals.
