Job Description: DevOps Engineer (Level 3 / Level 4)Company: Northrop GrummanLocation: Dulles, VA or El Segundo, CA (100% Onsite in SCIF environment)Work Schedule: 9/80 (Every other Friday off)Clearance Required: Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) at time of applicationTravel: Up to 10%Relocation: Relocation assistance may be availablePosition OverviewAs a DevOps Engineer (Level 3 or Level 4) within Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems division, you will play a critical role in enabling the rapid, reliable delivery of mission-critical software powering satellites, ground stations, and launch-vehicle controls. You will design and operate secure, automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) across hardened cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring strict compliance with aerospace and security standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAutomate cloud-native technologies, deploy applications, and provision critical infrastructure.Build and manage distributed architectures using containers, Kubernetes, and serverless technology.Configure and deploy optimized infrastructure within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem.Implement clean, maintainable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible following industry best practices.Oversee system health and monitoring using Nagios and other enterprise operational monitoring tools.Mentor team members to cross-train talent across the DevOps pipeline and assist in complex technical troubleshooting.Maintain comprehensive documentation for all deployment procedures and automation workflows.QualificationsLevel 3 RequirementsEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of professional experience; ORMaster’s degree + 3 years of professional experience; ORPhD + 1 year of professional experience; OR9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.DevOps Experience: 3+ years of dedicated DevOps experience.Leadership: 3+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives.Level 4 RequirementsEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree + 8 years of professional experience; ORMaster’s degree + 6 years of professional experience; ORPhD + 4 years of professional experience; OR12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.DevOps Experience: 5+ years of dedicated DevOps experience.Leadership: 5+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives.
