English Language Arts Teacher - Middle School

Position DescriptionSt. John’s Catholic School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to join our learning community for the 2026–27 school year. This teacher will play an important role in helping students grow as thoughtful readers, writers, and communicators within a supportive, mission-driven school environment.Core RequirementsPracticing Roman Catholic candidates are preferred, but not required.Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, Elementary Education, or a related field Maine teacher certification (or eligibility) with appropriate endorsement for middle school ELA Strong background in literacy instruction, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary development Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to collaboration with colleagues and ongoing professional growth Preferred QualitiesPassion for literature and writing instruction at the middle school level Ability to foster critical thinking, discussion, and a love of reading Interest in or openness to a classical approach to education, including the use of rich texts and writing across the curriculum Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community --About St. John’s Catholic SchoolSt. John’s Catholic School is a vibrant PreK–8 parish school located in Brunswick, Maine.
