Job Summary JOB DESCRIPTION A Data Governance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework that ensures the accuracy and integrity of the organization's data assets. This role leads the development and implementation of data policies, standards, and procedures, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and alignment with business objectives. This position involves overseeing data quality initiatives, managing data-related risks, and fostering a culture of data stewardship across the organization. By leveraging expertise in data management and governance, the Data Governance Manager plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making and driving the strategic use of data to achieve organizational goals.Job DutiesEstablishes and maintains a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and securityOversees data quality initiatives, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of dataEnsures compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards, and manages data-related risks by implementing appropriate controls and monitoring mechanismsPromotes a culture of data stewardship across the organization by educating and training staff on data governance practices and their roles in maintaining data qualityWorks closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to align data governance initiatives with organizational goals and objectivesEvaluates and implements data governance tools and technologies to support data management activities and improve data governance processesMonitors and reports on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives, using metrics and KPIs to track progress and identify areas for improvementCommunicates data governance policies, standards, and best practices to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, ensuring clear understanding and adherenceContinuously assesses and improves data governance practices, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging best practices to enhance the organization's data governance capabilitiesSupervisory ResponsibilitiesN/AEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:High school diploma or equivalent, requiredBachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology, preferredAdvanced degrees (Masters or MBA), preferredExperienceSeven (7) or more years of experience in data management, data governance, master data management, or data quality, requiredExperience implementing, developing, or supporting data teams, analytics teams, or business intelligence platforms, requiredExperience in data modeling of large and complex data stores, preferredProfessional services firm experience, preferredLicense/CertificationsRelevant such as DCAM CIMP,CDMP, preferredSoftwareProficiency with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation), requiredFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure & Power BI r, PreferredLanguageN/AOther Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to follow an issue through to its logical conclusion, and escalating where necessaryAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain accurate documentation and technical authorship of complex documentsExcellent interpersonal and customer relations skillsAbility to translate complex technical issues and topics into layman terms for diverse audiences Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and managementAbility to interact and build relationships and consensus among peopleAbility to facilitate meetings efficiently and effectivelyExcellent problem-solving skillsAbility to effectively organize and delegate complex tasksAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on detailsAbility to work well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional mannerAdvanced knowledge and understanding of the firm’s standard applications and all aspects of the IT environmentAbility to research and resolve problems, acquire and maintain knowledge of relevant software solutions, and support firm policies and proceduresWillingness to travel, on a limited basis, in support of stated goals and/or for firm sponsored trainings and conferencesIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $140,000 - $165,000Maryland Range: $140,000 - $165,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $165,000About UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
